What is the difference between Transporeon Freight Marketplace and freight exchange platforms?

Transporeon Freight Marketplace is a procurement platform connecting shippers, forwarders, and carriers. Unlike freight exchange platforms, which primarily serve the spot market and focus on single shipments, Transporeon Freight Marketplace is an all-in-one platform supporting both contracted and spot business. The platform offers 3 modules:

  1. RFQ module for long-term strategic tenders

  2. Mini-tenders for single-lane tenders with specific contractual periods and precise volume commitments
  3. Spot module for ad-hoc shipments
Moreover, while freight exchange platforms typically cater to forwarders and carriers, Transporeon Freight Marketplace enables shippers to post tenders, allowing carriers to bid directly and secure business.
In summary, Transporeon Freight Marketplace builds a curated network of shippers, carriers, and forwarders, emphasizing both contractual and spot business. In contrast, freight exchange platforms primarily focus on spot transactions between forwarders and asset-based carriers.
Is the Freight Marketplace platform available for all modes of transportation?
Currently, Freight Marketplace is limited to FTL road and intermodal transport. Future expansion to other modes is planned.
How is the Freight Marketplace different from other procurement tools?
Freight Marketplace stands out as a genuinely neutral platform. Unlike other platforms that may focus on either the buyer or seller side, we solely offer a neutral space for both sides to connect. Sellers benefit from showcasing their services to thousands of buyers, while buyers can request quotes not only from their connected carriers but also from thousands of carriers they are not yet connected with, thus effectively expanding their network. Additionally, the platform supports decision-making through data-driven insights. For example, for every lane and spot opportunity, you will be able to see real-time market prices based on Transporeon internal data.
Is the Freight Marketplace platform free of charge?

The Freight Marketplace platform offers two subscription plans:
 

Free Plan – Free of charge, but with usage restrictions, such as the ability to offer on only up to 10 lane requests or spot shipments per week, limited access to buyer profile information, and restricted contact with buyers.


Basic Plan – Costs €99/month or €999/year, offering unlimited usage on the platform for an unlimited number of users.


However, if you only wish to use the platform to look for capacity and offer your shipments and tenders, it is completely free of charge.


If you also want to use the platform as a carrier looking for loads and tenders, the subscription plans outlined above will apply to you.

 

How can I activate, change or cancel my subscription?

You can do so directly on the platform by navigating to the ‘User Settings’ page and then clicking on the ‘Subscriptions & Billing’ tab.

Is there a free trial period?

If you sign up to this wait list before April 1st, 2025 you will be entitled to a 90-day free trial period with full access to the platform without any restrictions. Tipically, we offer a standard 30-day free trial period during which you will have full access to the platform without any restrictions. Once the trial period ends, you will be automatically downgraded to the Free Plan. If you want full access again without any usage restrictions, you can activate the Basic Plan subscription by navigating directly to the ‘Subscriptions & Billing’ page on the platform.

What happens after I sign up to the wait list?
Once you sign up to the wait list, you will receive an invitation email to join the platform on April 1st. You will immediately be able to access the platform and start bidding on spot and contracted freight.
Can I act as both a shipper and a carrier on the platform?
Yes, you can. If that's your preference, please fill in the form accordingly selecting such option, and we will configure your company in the system as both a shipper/forwarder (a company interested in tendering loads and looking for capacity) and a carrier (a company searching for loads). As mentioned above already, publishing spot shipments and launching tenders on the platform is completely free of charge.
Are the carriers and forwarders on the platform vetted?

Every company must be checked and vetted by Transporeon before fully using the platform. This ensures that the Freight Marketplace remains a safe and neutral environment where relevant parties can conduct business. As part of the verification process, we will review the following documents and information:

  1. VAT ID

  2. Company registration document

  3. Cargo insurance

  4. EU transport license (if you are an asset-based company)
