Secure data, easy integration: the truth about real-time visibility

Real-time visibility: Addressing Logistics Service Providers and Carriers concerns

Real-time visibility in truckload transport is proven to lower costs, reduce empty miles, and improve efficiency and customer relationships. However, concerns around this technology still remain.

We wanted to know exactly what these concerns are, so we surveyed industry leaders to gather honest feedback on real-time visibility adoption. It turns out, while most users are strong advocates, some remain hesitant.

In this ebook we reveal the real-time visibility survey results and tackle the concerns that have prevented some transport enterprises from taking this game-changing step towards digitisation.

  • Data sharing and privacy

Concerns vs reality:

Concern #1: “I am concerned about the security and privacy of my own data and my customer data”

Carriers and Logistics Service Providers worry that the more information they share about their trucks and movements, the more control they hand over to someone else, and their business will suffer.

At Transporeon, data is our lifeblood. If the transport industry cannot trust Transporeon on data security, our network crumbles. That’s why leading-edge data security and privacy is central to our mission.

Concern #2: “I am concerned about inconvenient integration and incompatibility with my proven systems”

Smaller carriers and freight forwarders often fear that adopting RTV will make them dependent on larger corporations, threatening their independence and margins. However, evidence shows the opposite: as bigger players digitize, opportunities grow for smaller ones who do the same. Sticking to 'old school' methods risks a competitive disadvantage.

Concern #3: “I already have telematics, I don’t want or need to add further complexity to it”

Some shippers and carriers avoid RTV, fearing added complexity on top of their telematics solution. However, RTV is different, as it is focused on real-time data and future events. It enables proactive responses to exceptions, provides precise AI-calculated ETAs, and enhances truck and driver optimisation, streamlining transport execution for greater efficiency.

With a solution like Transporeon Real-time Visibility, we save time by using a single API to onboard each partner, which is crucial for us. We don’t have to discover a new format and we don’t have to implement a new way to connect to others. Whether it’s with a partner or a customer, we have one way to onboard each one, which is really important for us.

We had a client waiting for a truck in France. It was cold, wet and dark, getting late and our truck was standing at a roundabout, just 1km from the loading dock. Instead of the confusion and delay that might have happened in the past, we were able to lead our driver to the designated place, without fuss and without complex telephone calls. It’s a simple example, but it shows how client communication also makes life easier for hard-pressed drivers.

Operational Director,
Geba Trans

In this video, we explore how Transporeon’s solution helped Ascot ensure data control and confidentiality through centralisation.

Watch now to discover how streamlined integration via a single Application Programming Interface saves time, simplifies connections and supports long-term partnerships with carriers. Frederic Lanchais also talks about how the system boosts efficiency by detecting critical issues early, and provides comprehensive Transportation Management System and real-time visibility, to deliver operational excellence for shippers, carriers and Logistics Service Providers.
